
Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) inaugurated its Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) at the Ojha campus, with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praising the development and pledging an additional Rs2 billion for advanced equipment.
The CCC, built at a cost of Rs6.4 billion, features cutting-edge facilities for diagnosis and treatment, including Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Nuclear Medicine Theranostics. Cancer patients have been benefiting from nuclear medicine and high-quality imaging services for over a month.
Speaking at a related ceremony, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasised the centre’s potential to transform cancer care in the province, providing affordable treatment to patients across the region. He commended DUHS Vice Chancellor and his team for their dedication and hard work. The CCC boasts advanced research and teaching facilities, aligning with DUHS’s commitment to innovative healthcare solutions.
Prof. M. Saeed Quraishy Vice Chancellor, DUHS highlighted key achievements during his tenure, including the establishment of the comprehensive cancer facility, organ transplantation programme, and advanced ophthalmology services. He mentioned the university’s role in establishing the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital (SIDH) during the COVID-19 pandemic and the setup of a BSL-3 laboratory at a cost of Rs1.2 billion.
Key features of the new cancer centre include state-of-the-art departments — Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Nuclear Medicine Theranostics; advanced research and teaching facilities –enhancing healthcare education and innovation: affordable treatment –transforming cancer care in the province.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior faculty members, administrative staff, and government officials, showcasing the collaborative effort behind this significant healthcare milestone.

The construction works for the said facility –DUHS-Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC), a complex ensuring the four major components and services meant for diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment, were initiated in 2022, with a Gama Knife Radiosurgery unit functional since 2021 for patients suffering from brain tumours, according to a personnel.
