
In a week full of energy, inspiration, and appreciation, Kohsar University Murree celebrated Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Week 2025 from April 20-26 for the very first time, shining a well-deserved spotlight on the behind-the-scenes heroes of healthcare.
The celebrations were spearheaded by the MLT (Medical Laboratory Technology) program under the Department of Biotechnology. The initiative was led by Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Program Coordinator, in collaboration with Mr. Muhammad Ansar, Senior Lecturer MLT.
The celebration was formally inaugurated by the Honorable Registrar, KUM, Prof. Dr. Ramla Shahid, who was accompanied by distinguished guests, including Dr. Muhammad Talat (Additional Registrar), Dr. Muhammad Safdar Hussain (Deputy Registrar HR) and Dr. Shahid Hussain (Head, Department of Biotechnology), Dr. Aftab Hussain (Head, Department of Microbiology), Dr. M. Ilyas (Head, Department of Botany. During her address, Prof. Dr. Ramla Shahid spoke passionately about the critical role of medical lab technologists, especially in underserved regions. She emphasized the university’s vision, “To Serve the Soul” and stressed how vital MLT professionals are in strengthening the backbone of healthcare.
Dr. Shahid Hussain shared insights into the outstanding performance and growing significance of the MLT program, while Dr. Muhammad Saeed paid a heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes of the laboratory, those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to uphold the dignity and integrity of healthcare by serving humanity with honor.
As part of the celebration, an engaging poster competition was held among MLT students. The competition was judged by a faculty panel, and prizes were awarded to the top three position holders for their creativity and scientific representation.
The week wrapped up with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony, a moment that brought everyone together, faculty, staff, and students alike. There was laughter, reflection, and above all, a renewed commitment: to lead with knowledge, serve with compassion, and elevate the field of laboratory diagnostics in Pakistan.
