103 MBBS graduates awarded degrees at LNMC convocation

Over 100 MBBS graduates were conferred degrees at the 10th Convocation of the Liaquat National Medical College (LNMC) held recently at the Auditorium, Convention Centre, Liaquat National Hospital. Registrar Jinnah Sindh Medical University Dr. Mohammad Azam khan administered the oath to the graduates and Vice Chancellor Jinnah Sindh Medical University Prof. Amjad Siraj Memon conferred the degrees.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Jinnah Sindh Medical University Prof Amjad Siraj Memon congratulated the graduates and praised their parents for all their efforts to make their children qualified doctors. He also congratulated the LNMC faculty for instilling quality education and morals in the graduates.

He stated that the JSMU, as an affiliating university, has proudly witnessed the progress of the Liaquat National Medical College, owing to being upright in its educational pursuits and standards of merit and the results are testimonial to the quality education being imparted. He emphasized the importance of having the passion to serve, which would be essential for professional success. He advised the graduates to pursue their academic ambitions and go abroad but they should always remember the sacrifices that their parents made for them and always look after their parents especially in their time of need.

In his welcome address, Principal LNMC Prof. Karimullah Makki congratulated the graduates and their parents on the milestone achieved. He highlighted the academic standards of the college by citing the results secured by the LNMC students. He said that since the start, the LNMC has produced 1,200 medical graduates who are serving the medical field in different capacities in Pakistan & abroad. He stated that the LNMC is recognized by multiple foreign medical regulatory bodies and also has been accepted as Host & Home institution in the Association of American Medical Colleges via the Visiting Students Learning Opportunities (VSLO) programme.

He added that the LNMC is one of the best medical colleges in the private sector of Pakistan and the first choice of students. He praised the teaching faculty for providing extensive training and teaching clinical acumen to the students. He advised the graduates to always prioritize service to the ailing humanity and strive for postgraduate qualifications to get better knowledge and skills.

Medical Director Liaquat National Hospital, Prof. Salman Faridi congratulated the young doctors and their parents on the beginning of their new journey. He advised the graduates that life has a bigger purpose other than material success, and that is to help others in need. The purpose of a fulfilling life is not to receive but to give; not to seek worldly possessions but to bring joys to other people.

He stressed that the students should move beyond achievement of personal ambitions, and shift their paradigm towards more expansive obligations of serving the nation, by fulfilling the needs of the society that they live in. He guided the graduates that apart from the essential prerequisites of theoretical knowledge and practical dexterity, as doctors their integrity in ethical, moral, financial & professional domains will be pivotal in their career. He advised the graduates that as doctors that they should passionately serve the nation and above all, serve the humanity.

Dr. Mariam, Dr. Malaika Ali and Dr. Alina Amin Muhammad secured the first, second & third positions respectively. Dr. Manal Arshad Malik was awarded the Wajid Ali Shah Medal for the Best Graduate (Class of 2024), on the basis of her academic performance across five years of the MBBS programme.
